Project
structure
The VICE4RAIL project began on 1st October 2024. It includes six Work Packages (WPs) to achieve its goals. Four technical WPs will handle tasks to meet the technical objectives of the project, while two WPs focus on project management, coordination, and dissemination activities.
WP1
Project Management and Coordination
The main objectives of this work package are to:
- efficiently coordinate project activities to ensure alignment of Work Packages (WPs) with overarching objectives.
- Oversee comprehensive administrative and financial management, ensuring adherence to ethical standards.
- Facilitate information exchange with external projects and maintain robust communication with the European Commission (EC) and project partners.
Implement effective risk management strategies and provide guidance on standards and best practices.
WP2
Hybrid Virtualized Testing Certification Environment Requirements / Development of certification plan
The main objective of this work package is to show what to certify, how to certify and also find efficient solutions for certification in multimodal transport. Therefore, it will include (i) specification of user and system requirements for the Hybrid Virtualized Testing Certification Environment, (ii) development of the industry-accepted certification schemes, and (iii) exploration and exploitation of synergies in rail, automotive and maritime GNSS-based safety applications.
WP3
Reference Architecture Design
The main objective of this work package is to perform the Overall and Detailed Architecture design of the Certification Ecosystem named HyVICE. Starting from User Requirements and Safety Requirements, the GNSS Augmentation System for High Accuracy and High Integrity Service provisioning, following RTCM SC-104 and SC-134 standard, the Communication System, the On–Board Unit on the train and the relevant modelling of local effects. The design of the Certification platform simulator and the processing of collected on field data will complete the Architecture design.
WP4
Virtual Testing Platform Development
The main objective of this work package is the development and testing of the Hybrid Virtualized Testing Certification Environment. Laboratory ERTMS tests and on-field tests will be executed. Comparison and analysis between the on-field test results and the laboratory test results will be conducted ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the testing process.
WP5
Certification process
Based on the results of both laboratory and field tests, main objective of WP5 is to conduct the final validation of HyVICE Platform. In this WP Applicant / Manufacturer will define the validation strategies to issue a draft or a simple template of main validation documents/evidence.
The No.Bo. is involved, according to his accredited role, to simulate a full certification process evaluating the conformity of the Essential Requirements and the Technical compatibility for the trackside and on-board system
WP6
Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication
The main objective of this work package is to ensure that the project results and outputs are disseminated widely and effectively exploited by their target groups and relevant GNSS standardisation Committees.
