The Kick-Off meeting of the VICE4RAIL project- Hybrid Virtualized Testing for Certification of EGNSS in Railway Train Positioning  –  took place in Prague on November 19^th at EUSPA premises.

The objective of VICE4RAIL is twofold: to help develop a standardised methodology for the certification of satellite technologies and to provide innovative tools to facilitate their integration into the European railway system.

A key element of the project is HyVICE, an innovative “hybrid” test environment (from which the acronym Hybrid Virtualized Testing for Certification originates), which combines two types of data: those collected in a real environment and for this RFI’s railway circuit in Bologna San Donato will be used, and those generated virtually through simulations in CEDEX’s ERTMS accredited laboratory in Madrid.

The KO meeting gathers all partners of the consortium and count with the participation of Daniel Lopour (EUSPA Project Officer) who welcomed all the participants and highlighted main contribution of the project to the EUSPA activity in the railway sector. During the KO main objectives, tasks, activities and deliverables of all the WPs were presented by their leaders. It was the first time that all the project partners meet together and a good occasion to stablish the basis of the project partners contribution.

RFI (FSI group) is the project coordinator with SNCF, Italcertifer, Bureau Veritas, CEDEX, Sogei, the University of Pardubice, the University Gustave Eiffel and Radiolabs as members of the consortium.
